Did I get taken advantage of by Ford ?
When I bought the truck, the agent stated the price is not negotiable as it is advertised low. He gave 4 mud flap and promotional cleaning product. Bought my '04 FX4 on Aug. 5/04. On Sept. 5, saw the dealership advertising the FX4 at $1000 less in local paper. Called the agent and he stated it does not have the limited slip differential and power mirror therefore the difference in price. Checked Ford website and FX4 have this options. Any suggestion???Thank you from Toronto.

what i did when i bought my 04 ranger edge was i built the truck on the ford page (canada) then i printed the sheet out, brought it to ford and they then began dealing. I then went to the competiters and the deals began i ended up with about 4800.oo worth of extras by bringing the competitions quotes to the dealer Hope this will give u an idea

Limited Slip is standard, but the gears are different. 3.55 is std, or 3.73 add $55, or if you get the 18" optional rims ($495) then you get the 3.73 gears.
Look at the options of yours and the advertised truck. $1000 adds up quickly with options.

I actually called the manager and he was not aware of this advertising. He offered me to visit him so he can show me why the truck is cheaper though he would not discuss it over the phone. I can not make it that week due to other commitment. 5 minutes later, I called for the manager, was identified and was on hold for a while. I called again and same. Called again and asked for his voice mail and left this message. "To save both your time and mine, why don't you fax me the option of the truck and I will be happy with that or a simple phone call at my office or my cell. I said I had kept the ad from my truck and this other one and provided the stock nos. (Both ad are exactly the same also showing fx4, pm, LS diff, 3.73, 18" etc....3 year oil/lube change)
I then called F Can and they claim they do not deal with money issue so I am on my own with the dealership and offered their apology.
I got a call from dealership customer service and she really felt sorry for me and will check into it and let me know. It was 2 weeks ago and still waiting.
I do enjoy driving the truck except for the brake dust. It's just that I do not feel comfortable taking my truck for service there. I guess I just have to suck it up.

I restate that you might want to get a freebie or two for compensation, but if this is the best dealership for you to take it to for service...don't get thrown out. I also would ask, did you feel like you got a deal you were happy with on the day you bought your truck? If so then you didn't get taken. A good deal is one that you are happy with and I am sure there are plenty of people who bought trucks similar to yours early in the model year that paid a whole lot more.
