Starting to miss 7.3
For all you lucky 6.0 owners... here is the first step in replacing your drive belt...
6.0L engine
Remove the Cooling Fan— Blade, Clutch and Shroud, cooling fan stator.
Also required to replace alternator, tensioner, AC compressor, any component driven by the belt. Also this is one PIA just to remove these components. Sheeesh

Homer I've replaced a couple alternators on these now without removing everything. If you remove the intercooler pipe you can get at the belt tensioner and get the belt off the alternator pulley.
Can you get the fan and shroud out without pulling the rad? I've heard that it's quicker to pull the rad than to fight with it.
I wonder what warranty pays for a belt change. Probably about .3 or something

Dave, I wedged the tensioner to get the belt off, but next step for me was remove the AC compressor.... I had no work around for that one. That damned stator blocks damned near everything.
I can change the AC compressor on a 7.3 in about 10 mins after recovering the freon. Took me 3 hours first time on the 6.0... just the compressor. I dont think they even did a time study... they left it open for M-time, at least on the compressor.
