Chewing Gum and Leather

So I just got my truck back from getting the bench seats (front and back) custom upolstered in leather ( I have 4 kids and a wife so couldn't get the leather captains chairs).....when one of my kids gets a piece of gum stuck to the seat. I got most of it off, but there is still a little residue that I can't seem to get rid of. I don't want to really scrape at it because I'm afraid I'll hurt the leather. The leather cleaner stuff I got doesn't work.

HELP!

Try this

The basic way to get rid of chewing gum is to freeze it first. The best way is to use a can of commercial gum remover which is a freezing spray. However, you might simply try putting an ice cube on it for a while. You may then find that it will just rub off with your finger. Hope this will work for you.

Just noticed you are from Texas so thought I should let you know that here in Canada we would just wait until it is about minus 40 to freeze the gum. Also at that temperature even the best seats feel pretty much like a board when you first sit on them.

I grew up in Michigan so I know exactly what your talking about. I still miss kicking the ice blocks from the back of your tires so they didn't drag on the ground.

chewing gum and leather

Believe it or not, WD40 should work and you won't damage your leather. Also can try peanut butter or mayonaise (i know it sounds crazy but all 3 get gum out of hair faster than anything else!)

groitts garage has an interior cleaner that works very well. I buy the stuff in large bottles, as my wife uses it. Will also take adhesives off.
