motor mounts

i am having trouble with my motor mounts. i cant keep them in. i mean i keep bending and breaking them. i am getting tired of replacing them. someone told me buy some wide ground straps and bolt the engine to the frame kinda like you do with a chain. the problem there the strap stretches too much. i guess i could try some chains. any ideas are welcome.

You may be able to try something like the "Extreme" motor mounts made by some companies. they are basically a mount that bolts one half to the engine and one to the frame. They are connected with more or less a urethane spring eye bushing. I dodnt know how much vibration they absorb, but the shouldnt break.

Scroll about halfway down.

You can make a locking motor mount by drilling a hole thru (I prefer 3 for some bizarre reason...) the mount where it won't interfere with anything and sending a short, fat Grade 8 bolt thru the metal/rubber sandwich (or even 3 3/8" or 7/16" carriage bolts if you want). Depending on what you use and where everything else is, you might have to grind the heads down a little for clearance, but this method works pretty well: you only have to do it once.
