Exclamation To end the confusion: BioDiesel is not Vegatable Oil!

this is from http://www.biodiesel.org/
Biodiesel can be used in any concentration with petroleum based diesel fuel in existing diesel engines with little or no modification. Biodiesel is not the same thing as raw vegetable oil. It is produced by a chemical process which removes the glycerin from the oil. For those of you who do not allready understand BioDiesel please read the following:

http://www.biodiesel.org/pdf_files/Performance.PDF

I hope this will help clear the air and end the unjustified negative comments about BioDiesel. "I grow it, and I use it."

jbullfrog, thanks for growing it, but at $3.50 a gallon here in Austin (bunny hugging) Texas, it isn't cost effective. I bet you aren't getting the benefit from that kind of pricing. I would use it if the price was more competitive.

In Iowa, Soy Diesel is $1.90 the same as straight #1. It was usually a nickel higher than #2 last year.

Bush signed the BioDiesel incentive into law with the tax bill before the end of 2004. Hopefully this will get the cost at the pump down in other parts of the country.

I'll support you and use it, if the price gets competitive.

I would love to try it. From what I hear, the lubricating qualities alone are well worth the expense. None available around here in N. Louisiana, and the mail order stuff is outrageous $$$$$$. I would pay a few cents more at the pump.

be careful guys here is a ford message

Ford's Position on Biodiesel:
Ford is advising that any of their vehicles powered by a diesel engine, regardless of manufacturer, may exhibit engine or fuel system problems when using fuels with greater than 5% Biodiesel. Any problems when using fuels containing more than 5% Biodiesel should be referred to the fuel manufacturer. Ford only recomends using fuels containing no more than 5% Biodiesel (B5) in their diesel powered vehicles. In addition, as per World Wide Fuel Charter (WWFC) catagory 1-3, fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) must meet EN14214 and ASTM D 6751 specifications. Broadcast Message 0884.
