I had an early 80s ltd that did a similar thing. Mine was due to the breaking down of the plastic on the instrument cluster. On the back is where the wiring circuit is the old plastic piece with the trails of wires running through it and is grounded by the bulbs being in tight. Mine had the plastic falling apart and the bulbs wouldn't make a good ground. Just a thought.

Hey Kelly, I thought you had a Ranchero or Econoline that you wanted us to look at.

Let's keep the boss happy and keep it Ford.

You know what, on second thought, I do not need this *hit. I have a 73 ranchero, that i posted pics of on "other" forums, a 68 and 69 Firebird, that i have posted pics of on "other" forums, and an 80 Corvette that i have posted pics of on other forums. Not ONE time has anyone asked me not to post my "other" hotrods on thier site. I hope the 'boss" will understand, that I will take my "business" else where. kelly

Kels Hotrods, including 1973 FORD Ranchero

Hey Kelly, I didn't make up the rules, and I guess you didn't take thime to read them.

Your thread title just says gas guage, nothing else, and you want us to look at a vehicle that we think is approperate for this forum only to find out is a brand X on a Ford truck forum.

I guess if you got an attitude about having us look at something that we have no interest in seeing, we need to grow up, huh?

John
