Cool High pressure oil pump leak

Took my PSD in with 72000 miles to the dealer with an oil leak, they said its the high pressure oil pump orings. The worst news is they said Ford will not cover it, I asked how often to they fix these, they said about one a month and thats just in my small town. What's up with that

The engine should have a 100,000 mi. warranty to cover that. What was their excuse this time for not honoring their own warranty claims??

Warranty?????????

The dealership said that they have tried with Ford to get reimbursement, but to no avail. I'm going to call, write customer service and at least squeak the wheel.

Yep - my HPOP pump went to leaking at only 23,000 miles or so - and according to my dealer it seemed kind-of normal too. Mine was covered under warranty then, but I was still under the whole truck warranty. They certainly should cover it - but any more it seems that they try to get out of anything they can!! That's the main reason I spent the money for a new truck - FOR that stinkin' warranty!!

Whoa! Wait a minute, that bad boy is definitely covered under the engine warranty because I had mine replaced at 37000 miles. If you look on page 7 of the diesel owners supplement it tells you everything that is warrantied, and that's included. Now the only way they could potentially say it's not their problem is if you've modded the truck in a way that would have an impact on the HPOP operation (chipped, etc.) Even then they should have to prove that the aftermarket part caused the malfunction, but right now they are trying to cut warranty work repairs so they're gonna fight tooth and nail on that one. If all else fails, go to another dealer...

Warranty

I just got my truck back and the service receipt says high pressure oil line at the high pressure pump, but shouldn't that also be covered and if it is there a number or website to complain to Ford. Thanks

This is the text directly from the warranty guide...

7.3L PowerStrokeT Diesel Engine Coverage
The New Vehicle Limited Warranty covers certain direct injection diesel
engine components against defects in factory-supplied materials or
workmanship for five years after the warranty start date or 100,000 miles,
whichever occurs first.
After the end of the Bumper to Bumper Coverage period (three years or
36,000 miles, whichever occurs first), you must pay a $100 deductible for
each repair visit.
Ford Motor Company or Ford Motor Vehicle Assurance Company covers
these components: cylinder block, heads and all internal parts, intake and
exhaust manifolds, flywheel, timing gear, harmonic balancer, valve covers,
oil pan and pump, water pump, fuel system (excluding fuel lines and fuel
tank), high pressure lines, gaskets and seals, glow plugs, turbocharger,
powertrain control module, electronic driver unit, injectors, injection
pressure sensor, high pressure oil regulator, exhaust back pressure
regulator and sensor, camshaft position sensor, accelerator switch.
NOTE: Some components may also be covered by the Emissions
Warranties, with no deductible. For more information, see pages 11-24.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED?
Damage Caused By:
² accidents, collision or objects striking the vehicle (including driving
through a car wash)
² theft, vandalism, or riot
² fire or explosion
² freezing
² misusing the vehicle, such as driving over curbs, overloading, racing,
or using the vehicle as a stationary power source
² altering or modifying the vehicle - including the body, chassis, or
components - after the vehicle leaves Ford’s control
7
² non-Ford parts installed after the vehicle leaves Ford’s control. For
example, but not limited to, cellular phones, alarm systems, and
automatic starting systems, and performance-enhancing powertrain
chips
² tampering with the vehicle, tampering with the emissions systems, or
with other parts that affect these systems
² disconnecting or altering the odometer or allowing the odometer to be
inoperative for an extended period of time with the result that the
actual mileage cannot be determined
² using contaminated or improper fuel/fluids
² customer-applied chemicals or accidental spills
² driving through water deep enough to cause water to be ingested into
the engine

Hope this helps...PITA ain't it? I love Fords, but the dealers are so special...

Thanks for the info, I sure get tired of all this, its like my son's Taurus, the springs were cracking on them, now Ford says they will pay or reinburse for the repair. But when its all ready on there, who do you call? I ordered this truck brand new, so I know its been taken care of. Oh well
