The guys I bought the pulley from didnt say anything about putting new spark plugs on. What kind should I put on. I have heard several diff brand just wanna get some other thoughts. Also how much can I drive my truck with that 6# pulley. I still want the truck to be my daily driver. I guess that is what I get for buying something without knowing what the hell is going on LOL. I am still going to the 1/8 mile track this weekend. If I dont get the plugs on will it still be ok to run the truck hard on the track? CONFUSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

The denso iridium tipped plugs are the best IMHO.They'll last you a long time but if you do run a 6# pulley, don't be afraid to change the plugs more frequently.

 

Hey thanks a lot. The place I am going to didnt have the denso they had brisk. They claim the brisk are a better plug (90 bucks for the set, ouch). But I went ahead and got a set of them and a cold air intake. Will this help out a lot as far as stress on the engine with the bigger pulley. I have also heard that putting the new plugs in are a @$^*!. If yall know any tricks or have any advice as far as putting the new plugs in please tell me cause the performance place wanted $200 to put em in. Thanks

 

Cool. Post some pics of the Brisk plugs if you can. I heard about them and want to see them. Also, post up what you think of em when you get em in. I want to try em but am real reluctuant about dropping 80+ on a set of plugs.

 

I would suggest a socket and ratchet- these tools made my job A LOT easier...........................lol Just Kidding pal and good luck!

Ya, if your going to do the spark plug swap yourself, go get stock in some 3/8 racthet extentions!!!You'll need at least a 3 6 inchers.

HEY Fuzzie, from what I know your L is running a 8# factory pulley. Who told you to change It! As for your plugs, Don't worry yet, on the regular 5.4L 1 side is full platium & the other half tipped. I talked to the Dyno brothers at EEP, & they recomend a full change at 50,000km's not 100,000km liked advertistied. I'm know you what to kick it up but give your L break in first! Just my opinion.

Changing to a larger pulley is a common upgrade. When someone says #6 pulley, they mean 6 lbs over stock, not 6 lbs total. On the supercharged Harleys many people put a smaller top pulley on (the Harley F150 has a larger top pulley than the Lightning).

Fuzzie - Did you make it to the track last weekend? How did the pulley work out?

 

If you can afford it, get set of ET Streets or something of the like on a different set of wheels, preferably on a set of 15 or 16 inch wheels. These work awesome as I can tell you from personal experience but wouldn't want to drive on them everyday. I have a set of Lightning spare tire wheels that I bought from a local scrapyard for $20 (16 inch) and mounted my tires on them and they hook great. 15 inch wheels will require you to grind down your rear caliper for wheel/caliper clearance so I would suggest the 16 inch wheels. Also, I run the 26 inch tall tire for a little better gear multiplication, the street tires on L's is 28.5 inches tall, and you will see a little better acceleration out of your truck. I have seen high 1.6 60 foot times out of these and can tell you they work and work well. I would also suggest that if you do get a good set of sticky tires, invest in a set of traction bars. I'd hate to see your driveshaft end up in more than one piece! I'm in the phoenix area and if your close and you want to make a pass on my tires, more than welcome to, let me know.

Oh hey Blown00 Sorry dude I forgot all about posting some picks of the brisk plugs. They are pretty cool plugs though. They got 4 prongs and a little bitty electrode. Cant tell any diff. though. The plugs that were on the truck (motorcraft platinum) were a damn good plug though. I think they would a lasted a pretty good while.
