Need help matching front leaf spring from salvage yard, 93 F250
One of the front springs is sagging in my 93 F250 supercab 4x4 and I think I'm going to take a chance on swapping in one from a salvage yard, my question is were there different springs available and how do I know if I'm getting the right one for my truck that's going to match the one on the other side? When I called them the only options they had were 2" thick springs or 1.5" thick springs, and mine are the 1.5" ones. I had the spring code from my truck assuming they'd need it to match a spring, but they've already got them pulled off and most of the rest of the trucks are long gone. Would I be safe using any springs from the same year/model truck as long as they're the same thickness?
Thanks, Joe

You're really taking your chances with that. You will need to get the right spring for your truck. Different springs have different rates and capacities, depending on the options the truck came with.
Even if you did find the correct spring, there's no guarantee that it will match the other side on your truck.
Your best bet is to get a new set of springs from JC Whitney. Barring that, get a matched pair from a truck in a salvage yard that hopefully matches the spring code in your truck.

Well, I was out at the salvage yard this afternoon and was able to check the spring codes on the trucks the springs came out of and they weren't the same so I passed on those, I'll wait until I know I'm getting one with the same spring code. I've got another yard checking and if they have one I'll have them pull it on Tuesday. Was hoping to do this over the weekend but it didn't work out.
I know new would be the better way to go but then I'd have to replace both sides, with double the work and $350 vs $50 for a used one.

I had a 75 Duster that the springs were shot in... I happened to be working at a salvage yard at the time but anyway what I did was take springs from a cordoba, kept the top leaf from the duster for correct mounting holes, then took out the broken leaves and made two new springs making sure I matched the replaced leaves side to side. The cordoba springs were longer so I had to use a cutting torch to cut one or two of the leaves that I used. I did the job complete in a Saturday afternoon.
Just an idea.
