Truck dies coming to stopff
Hey guys, i was wondering if anyone could tell me why when i press in the clutch and the brake to slow down, the RPMs will plumit and then when i make the stop it dies. OH sorry I have a 98 Mazda B-2500 with 130,xxx miles.
Also if I push in just the clutch, the RPMs will raise to 2500-3000. Please help me I cant take it to the dealership. They have jerked me around enough .

Hey Smokey.....I don't have the foggiest idea what's wrong, but I thought if I bumped you back up on the list one of these Ranger gurus would have a brain storm and help you. When you push in the clutch you say the RPM's jump, and if that's the case why does it die when you stop? Obviously you push in the clutch when you stop, so there must be more to the story. Give these guys all the facts you can and I bet they will solve your problem. Good Luck!

As Dealford mentioned have any codes been pulled? I've solved a couple of problems with my Fords by simply going to the dealer & looking up a Technical service bulletin. Heres the ones to look up for your problem. TSB 0101100R Throttle position sensor-high idle speed from july,2000.
And 0100299 engine controls delayed return to idle with trouble code P0320, from April 2003.
If you cant find any vacuum leaks, check out those TSB's

Hey again I did a little experiment with the trruck. I noticed that everytime this problem came about, it was when the gas level was low. So I put gas in at about the half area and the problem went away. No dieing of the engine or anything. I talked to my father-in-law, which happens to be a diesel mechanic, and he says that it could be a crack in the pipe that leads into the gas tank. What do you guys think. Hopefully that helps a little.

Bad (or about to go bad) fuel pump, maybe a clogged in-tank filter (If they have those), or bad fuel pressure regulator.
