What!! Radio volume broke / inop.

I have a dual deck radio in my 98 xplorer/ The volume *** spins but doesnt control volume. I can contol it from the back seat though.

Is this a common problem? How can it be fixed? I know new radios are pricy so its probably worth the fixing. Any help would be awesome.

Search on dual media radios or display problems. There are several problems that can be user fixed, but I dont know if this is one.

You can always improve on your sound system with abandoning the stock system. I havent heard of any quick fixes when a volume dial goes, but it might be out there,

or check ebay...you can often find one cheaper there than the dealership...but I agree...aftermarket sounds MUCH better.
