Bad Power Vavle - Autolite 1100

I rebuilt my 1bbl autolite 1100 this last weekend because I had a problem with fuel flooding the barrel. Interestingly, the rebuild kit did not come with any parts to rebuild the power vavle assembly, adn actually stated to leave it as is. I got the kit from NAPA.

I put it back on, fired it up, and I am still seeing flooding in the barrel after I stop the truck. I would assume the power vavle is letting the fuel in, I can see it dripping inside the barrell, as its all wet in there.

Do I need to get a new carb, and if so I was looking at Holley, but is there something better? Any tips are great.

I have 68f100 Inline-6 300.

Sounds like the float is too high to me. I would double check the float setting first. A power valve will only pass fuel under vacuum while it is running usually.

Originally, the carb was leaking, so I rebuilt it, I set the float as described in the rebuild kit, at 1 3/32". That was with the carb dry, before running it. I followed the directions in CHilton book. I set the upper part of the carb upside down, so the float would be closed (resting on the needle), and measured from bottom edge of carb to top of float, at 1 3/32".

Does this sound right? DO I need to set it wet as well?

That sounds about right. Does it run ok when it's running? Not too rich or anything?

Yeah I dialed it in,the mixture, and timing adn idle, and it runs smooth, and doesnt smell rich. I can turn the carb upside down adn blow into it and no air goes in float chamber either so I know the chamber gets sealed form fuel when float is raised.

Anyway, I am buying a new carb, so I'll let you know how that goes.

Thanks!
