The Diesel motors get better milage than the gassers, fact!
Until the new 05 owners have enough time to put on some milage, and get them good n broke in, it will be hard to say what the average difference will be.
Depending on how you drive and if you haul, there can be a very broad range of differences. Expect the 3valve 5.4 to give around 12-14 empty and the 6.0 to get 17-20 empty. Towing heavy both will loose MPG but the diesel will still have higher mpg.

Two of my office mates drive F350 4x4 SC's with V10's. They both get close to 16 mpg on the highway, and around 13 mpg average. 5.4's tend to get about 1 mpg better than the V10's.
That is right in line with the SD FAQ, which lists average mpg's of 12.5 for the V10, 13.5 for the 5.4 and 17 for the 6.0 PSD. These are "middle of the road figures that you can probably bank on to be safe."
Bottom Line: For an empty or lightly-loaded truck, I'd expect about 3-4 mpg difference between the 5.4 and the 6.0. (instead of 5-6)
