Front Crossmember Cracked

My front crossmember is cracked where the passenger side ttb arm's pivot bracket is attached to it.

I have repaired 3 times with different weld techniques (punch holes to stop the crack, braced and drill the reinforcement and weld it to the holes) and it's broken again, this time broke the reinforcement too. I believe that what causes the problem comes from another component or the screws and rivets that take hold it to the frame are loosen and for that reason it has all the effort in a single site.

this week Im going to place a new crossmember, change all the screws and replace the rivets for screws and weld the crossmember to the frame. I hope that with this the problem can be solved.

somebody can help me to understand what causes this problem and if what I am going to do is the right thing

it seems to me that there is more to the problem then you want to hear. i dont know but it seems your frame is shifting in more places then just the front crossmember area and that is where all the stress is ending up. have you done a thorough check of the complete frame and all suspension mounting areas? is there excessive rust anywhere on the frame? has the vehicle been in any major colisions that required the frame to be straitened? just a few thoughts off the top of my head. i would definately look for the cause before you do the repair or you will just have to it again.

Thanks bofojaso

I check the crossmember yesterday and when im turning the steering wheel the crossmember moves from the frame, i think that the bolts and the rivets are not tighten enough and allow that movement.
The truck has never suffered a collision but I will check the frame alignment and all others frame members for damage before install the new one.

Thanks

Where are you getting the crossmember from? Finally diagnosed my own steering problem, ('84 F-150 4x4), the crossmember is cracked on the drivers side where it meets the frame, and the extra section of frame that creats a box, where the steering gearbox bolts to is also cracked. So, i am looking to see where i can get a new crossmember. Thanks.
