Thumbs down I have seen the ads for the new shocks

And then today I got behind one of the new ones.. And got a look at them from behind.. They better advertise how good they feel! The darn things hang down like a donkey's di$k. From the looks of them they are as low to the ground as the bottom of the wheels and they look to be about 2 inches away from the wheel/tires. I betcha they sell a whole bunch of shock brackets to anyone that takes them to the pasture. If you'ns havn't seen em you will be as surprized as I was.

Are you referring to the commercial for the PLACEMENT of the shocks?? I dont think the shocks themselves are what they are refering to. And yes, they really do make a big difference. What do you drive?

I have seen those ads lately of the chassis' side by side bouncing around on some kind of machine. Then today I was behind a new truck and noticed how wide the shocks were spaced and how low they hang down. As I drove further around town I watched closely all of the other pickups I got behind and that new ford has it's shocks hanging at least 3 inches if not MORE closer to the ground than any other I saw.
Not that it matters but I am driving a 99 Ranger 4X4.

3"? Hardly. The bottom of the shock mount is about the same height as the rear-end. The same as many other trucks. The only difference with the ford is they are mounted outside not inside the wheels.

Smile You must own one of those! And you feel I am picking on you.

Don't make a bet on it till you go measure! I have never seen any shocks that low. I am sure you are proud of yours. Why not just drop it here?

I read your post and it got me thinking so I looked today when I was servicing my truck. If that shock mount is 3" of the ground, I'll give you the keys. Go measure it yourself, be sure you check out the 4x4's.

Shocks on 4x4 are 7.5" above ground. (about one inch lower than the rear end). Not exactly a stump jumper, but as I said, hardly 3" either.

Lowered or not, has anyone had trouble with the new architecture of the rear suspension? I mean bottoming out or similar trouble? I don't know much about whats better or not, but the truck sure ride nicely and the bed does not bounce around a lot in my opinion but that might also be because of th extra weight in the middle due to the crew cab.

Just a little ribbin Big Jim!

As for this truck bottoming out. I have the FX4. If this thing bottoms out I'd be very surprised.
Now my Tundra. Drove like a car and bottomed out like a car. Wasn't a truck at all.
