Rearview mirror

Can anyone tell me how to remove my old rearview mirror. I need to change it out and I can't see any set screws or any way to remove it. It's all screwed up and it's driving me crazy. It' an 88 Ranger Ext cab.

Thanks
Smitty

Hey,Smitty, check this out. I read your post earlier, and had to go to town so I thought I would look at mine and see if I could figure it out.So I get out to my truck and open the door and much to my suprize, there's my rearveiw mirror laying in the floorboard! Spooky huh? but anyway,I now know how it comes off.there is a small lock clip made to the mirror part that locks on to the metal tab on the winsheild when you slide it down on it. I'm sure ford has a special tool for this but if your careful you should be able to get something in behind it and release it. If you crawl up on your truck you should be able to see the little clip through the windsheild. or put your head on the dash and look up in the slot under it.

Upon closer inspection, the lock tab that is visable has nothing to do with it,what you want to do is look at the bottom of the peice next to the windsheild, and you will notice a notch on one side, slide a Small screwdriver up in there about an inch until it hits and then push in a little more, this will release it to slide up and off.
