7.3 turbo non power stroker miles per gallon
I am looking into buying a older none power stroker 7.3 turbo to pull my 24' flat bed trailer with 4 full size atv's and a jeep(about 6500lbs) I would also have around a 12' camper on it. what would the mileage be around? I have a dodge 440 motor home now and am only getting 6.25mpg I need to do something about this bad.
thanks for any help

You do not say where you live or what kind of tranny you are looking at. An overdrive manual tranny will help a lot with the mileage. Flat country will help a lot with the mileage.
I have an 86 with a 7.3 turbo and a direct drive four speed.
Here in the WV mountains I average 10 when I am grossing about 18 to 22 thousand.
Most of my loads are either excavating machinery on a trailer or rock and dirt on the dump bed so they do not catch much wind. You are going to be lighter in weight, but the camper is going to catch a lot more air.
I also have the ATS turbo package with a three inch downpipe, no muffler and dual three inch stacks.
I will guess 11.

Just in from move from Dallas Texas to Worchester, Mass., 2130 miles checked by using front tank only and filling up to throat, driving while tracking miles, refilling, recording gallons used, dividing that into miles driven for average MPG.
Results:MPG 19.75
Vehichle specs 7.3 IDI, E4OD transmission, 410 rear end
I am going to have a hard time converting tranny over to a manual when I convert from 2wheel drive to 4x4 because I thinnk that the trans has alot to do with the MPG.

'87 F350 4x4, 6.9 w/ ATS kit, 4.10's and T19 (RPM's screaming)...running about 60 mph, about 16.5k #'s.....
I prolly averaged 11mpg towing from portland to lake tahoe, up and down a bunch though the sierras...
I'm sure it woulda done better in the flat ground w/ another gear (ran 28-2900 R's the whole way).....and if the motor weren't F-train.....(see my other post about drinking oil)
