Please check my correctness. The bottom of the oil filter fits into the passage above the oil pan on the left side of the block, and the top of the filter fits into a tee with the sender unit. Am I right or not?

You have it right, be sure that there is a restrictor inline for the input of the oil filter. ...Terry

 

Why, what kind?

 

One of the fittings will have a smaller opening thru it, it will restrict the flow of oil to the bypass filter. Only part of the oil will flow thru the filter. This is normal operation, if the restrictor is not in place, your oil pressure to the rest of the engine will be low or non-existent. ...Terry
