I have 333k + on mine, its a 2x4, but in the Southern states, Carolinas and below, I usually get between 18-20 hwy, 14-16 city. I generally run around 2100-2200 rpm. Up in the Northeast, it varies badly because of the stop and haul *** conditions, sorry driving conditions in the cities for suv's. But, my hwy tends to be around 17-18 and city 12-15. In the midwest, the different fuel blends tend to mess with my mileage, but 18 seems to be the variable.
Almost forgot, I use Mobil 1 (10,000 between changes)...0-30 or 5-30, Prolong (an arguable additive), K&N filter and I run Lucas fuel injector cleaner about every other month.

My 1999 4x4 Expy gets 13.7 city and around 17 HWY and drops to around 12 with a 4000 pound boat in tow. As a note I am running 285/75/16's tires, larger than stock. Hope this helps.

My wife drives are EXP around town mostly and doesnt do much highway driving. We have 60K on the vehicle and the milage computor shows we get about 11-12 mpg. If you concerned about gas mileage I wouldnt recommend this SUV. We will be getting rid of our EXP this year for something smaller with better mileage since are kids are grown now and its just me the wife and the dog.

I've had the tank full seven times now (bought my Expy about 3-1/2 weeks ago) and my mileage has been between 12.9-15.9 mpg. The highest the message center has displayed is 18.5 mpg, right after a fill-up during a long highway trip. I drive consistently about 50/50 between highway (no traffic) and local (secondary roads, rush hour on hwy) miles.

I have a 01EB 5.4 Same as everyone else, I get about 13 in town,17-18 on the freeway. But hey, who would buy a 'pedition for mileage anyway??? They are the kings of the road! Wether you are driving across plains or mountains they drink fuel with style!!

I have a 01 Expy Sport, 5.4L triton and I have been getting on average around 9-10 miles/gallon around town and have never gotten over 13.5 hwy. I actually took it into the dealer when I first purchased it, and they said the computer showed 14.5 around town (total B.S.). I have been suspecting it was because this model only had AWD and 4X4, but I have read all of the posts about disabling the AWD, and everyone says there is no noticable improvement in mileage.

I have a 99 EB, 4x4, AWD and I'm averaging about 14.4 MPG since I bought it about 3 weeks ago. That's mostly city driving, with my foot out of it. If I hot rod it it drops drastically. But on the other hand it showed about 18-19 MPG on the highway. I really wish the trip computer thing would show instantaneous MPG in addition to Average.

One point often overlooked in the threads relating to this issue is the gear ratio. A 3.55 will get better mileage than a 3.73.

My 98 Expy (just dropped in a salvage 98 Navigator 5.4 w/67k miles on it) averaged 14.54mph over the 600 mile trip from Kentucky to Maryland on Wednesday. It varied from 13-17mpg depending on speed/terrain. My Expy has the 3.73 LS rear-end. I was running between 70-76mph the whole trip.

sucks it up

I'm getting 9-11 mpg. 2000 5.4. I must have that short gear rear.
