2000 Explorer XLT - Break/wheel noise
2000 Explorer XLT - When driving 5-10 mph, I recently started hearing a whistling noise coming from the front driver side wheel area. It seems to appear from accelerating from a stopped position, and then goes away when I reach 10 mph or greater. It sounds like it is a rubbin noise and is consistent with wheel rotation, but I checked the wheel and it does not appear to be rubbing against anything. Has anybody else experienced this? I have an service appointment scheduled for next friday and was looking for a better way to describe this to the tech. Thanks in advance.

2000 Explorer XLT - Break/wheel noise
I am a ford tech at a dealer I have seen many 98'-99' explorers with this problem. There is a ford technical service bulletin for whistling from the front wheels. The noise should be fairly loud if it is what I'm thinking it is . Ford made updated half shaft dust shields that go between the front halfshaft and the bearing also they also apply high temp. grease to the hub. I am not certain this is the noise with out hearing it my self but it sounds like it by the description.
