Regarding CD changer
This is my first post so hello to all. I had recently purchased a 99 Eddie Bauer edition Expedition (my first SUV, been a 3 time Taurus owner). It has the cd changer option, but it is missing the cartridge where you are supposed to insert the cds. Do they sell the cartridge by itself or would I need to buy another cd changer just so I can have it. Thanks in advance.

I have a 99EB and found the cartridge at Crutchfield the radio out let. It was around $30.00. The dealer wanted $80.00 for one. It is not listed as for a 99EB but I found it's true manufacturer. If I can find it tonight I will get the part number and post it. The other thing is that I don't know if ford used any other brands.

I'd be interesting in knowing the true manufacturer of the Ford CD changers...I want a new head unit and retain the stock 6 disc changer...and crutchfield says no can do....I find it hard to believe that some aftermarket head unit such as Sony wouldnt mate up with our stock disc changers. i know its not like that in jap cars...

Yes from my research the player is made by Clarion. They do have different models but the are made by clarion.
The magazine is a clarion model CAA 355. Price is $29.99. That is alot better than the Ford dealer here in Omaha wanted $8o.oo for one. Good luck.
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I changed jobs and my computer at home went bad.

I hate that when people trade in a vehicle without the changer cartridge, and yep they are expensive from Ford. The problem is often amplified when the vehicle is a repo or a fleet vehicle program unit. They often are turned in with no CD cartridge and people rarely think of checking for it when they buy until after the sale. If you have a good sales rep he will get you one, but we arent always that lucky. Sales managers hate giving up the green on a skinny deal.

Just remember to check your CD changer before bidding on one.
The F57F-18C833-AB and the F87F-18C833-AB both fit the early CD changers with the Orange eject button.
The YL1F-18C833-AB fits the later CD changers with the Gray eject button. This later cartridge has movable trays and will not work in the earlier models.

which cd changer cartridge or magazine do I need for a 2000 expy with 6 disc ?
which cd changer cartridge or magazine do I need for a 2000 expy with 6 disc?
I've found two different numbers on e-bay that people are saying will work with a 2000 expy. Based on what I read above I'm inclined to go wiyth the one that starts with a y.
YL1F-18C833-AB
or
F5TZ-18C833-A 6
Is 1 a ford number and one not, or would 1 of these be wrong?
thanks for any info.
