I can't seem to find the MAF on my 1990 2.9L Bronco 2. I thought it would be on the intake tube but I can't find it. My Haynes manual doesn't say anything about it either. Does my truck even have one? thanks for any info guys. L8a.
I know some 2.9's came with MAF, but most 2.9 are speed density, meaning it uses manifold air pressure and temperature instead of mass air flow to determine the amount of air entering the engine.
Thanks guys. My truck Pings on hills in higher gears and on some 1st gear starts at lights. I read somewhere that cleaning the MAF would possible fix this. Oh well. I'm sure I probably don't have one since I'm pretty sure it would be RIGHT after the airbox and before the air tube. I'll try to disconnect the battery and see if relearning would help anything. Thanks again guys.
oh. ps. is this "air pressure sensor" , and "air temperature sensor" thingies cleanable? or replaceable if they tend to go bad over the years? Just wondering. L8a.
mrshorty is right. I think the Cal. BII have the MAF sensors on them.
Right! I also believe that the Cal. models have the MAF's. I can't remember where mine was manufactured but I do know it's not a Cal. model and it does not have a MAF sensor. It doesn't even have an EGR valve.
The 1990 2.9 will not have EGR and I bet it has a MAP, located on the firewall, just to the passengers side with a vacuum line and electrical connection.
