Hi guys,

I have a 1981 f150 inline 6 4 speed manual . Trying to change rear main. I cannot get the flywheel off. 6 bolts that have the large slots on them. Would these bolts be put on w/ pnumatic tool you think? They are not moving ant not rusted either.

You will need to use a breaker bar (or a cheater pipe on your wrench) and hold the flywheel. I usually use a pair of vise grips on the ring gear to keep the flywheel from turning. But if you rotate the engine so that the bolt you are loosening is at 3 o'clock and place the wrench at 9 o'clock, a quick yank down of the cheater pipe usually cracks the bolt loose. The bolts may be in with loctite and will be difficult if too much was used.
An impact would make quick work of the bolts but be sure to use an impact socked.
