Hot start problem

I have a 1990 f-350 with a 460, not the original motor but a great runner, use to pull my camper, the problem I have is that when the motor is hot the starter turns very slow, all most like the battery is weak but I have replaced the battery and also put in new starter, the the problem still remains. When the motor is cold it turns over like a champ. I was thinking of putting on a heat sheild around the starter to protect it from the heat, any other ideas would help

Thanks for your help

Ken

It can be that your starter is getting heat soaked but another thing to do is clean/replace your battery cables. By cleaning I mean both ends of the cable, battery to solinoid, sloinoid to starter and battery to ground.

Thanks for the advice, I never thought of the cables, I'll give it a try.

Thanks again:

Ken.
