Question FIPK for 2004 PSD?

I'm wondering...

The K&N website does not list a FIPK for the 2004 PSD. The DO have one for the 2003. Choctaw Bob has one and swears by it.

Will the FIPK for the 2003 work on the 2004? The consensus for gassers is that they are interchangeable. My concern is that the 03 and 04 turbos are dramatically different.

Does anyone know if the 2003 FIPK will work on the 2004?

my airaid box for my 03 fit my 04 just fine--don't know about the FIPK but I'm quite sure it'll be fine--I was wondering the same thing about shocks for the 2wd trucks--see lots of them for 03's but not for 04's any hints?

Call J C Whitney - they many times have a part number that is not listed on any web sites...

And shocks ARE different... I got some Rancho 9000 adjustables that work SUPER...

course ANYTHING is better than the marginal stock shocks

The entire pre-turbo intake on both the 2003 and 2004 models are identical. The upgraded turbo will not have an effect since the clamp and flange on the intake side is the same.

Is this system any better than stock? You are sucking in alot of hot
air from under the hood, and with the stock filter, at least you
bring in cooler air. Doesn't cooler air mean more HP? I am using the
AFE Pro Guard 7. IT flows more air and plus it uses cooler air from the
outside. Just a thought.

Well, that's one of those "ask 10 people, get 10 answers" questions. I've done some pretty serious reading here and the other diesel truck place about that very subject, and it seems to be about a horse apiece. Some users here at FTE, whose opinions I trust, have reported pretty positive results. I just don't know. The only thing I do know (now) it that it will fit...

I was just at a truck accessory shop Friday looking at goodies for my truck. They had a brand new FIPK (open box, had been installed on a truck briefly) for an '03 SD on their sale rack for $100. I was ready to buy it since it was about 1/3 the price of new. The saleman asked what year truck I was putting it on and I told him '04. He said that they tried to install it on an '04 but it didn't work. I don't know why it didn't work, but it was on their sale rack because it had been open and installed. If it can work on an '04 without question, I'll have to go back and purchase it because I can't beat that price.
