My sister is thinking of buying one of these and has asked me what I think of them. Does anyone here have any experience with this vehicle? She says that the engine is made in Germany and the trans. is made in France. What can You tell me, Thanks Greg 58

Sis and her husband drove one @ a dealership in Souix City IA. I think it is an early release of a 2002 model. He loved it, she wants a Mini-van, UGGH!!!

I rented a 2002 explorer for the last 2 days. 4.0L with 5 speed auto. It is a nice truck, BUT, I find that at 50-60 MPH, on a rough highway, it is very unstable. Also, handling at highway speeds on turns can get a little hairy at times. Other than that, I love it. I am seriously thinking of getting one. (Unfortunatly, they don't sell Mercury's in Canada anymore, except the cougar). One other thing, the window sticker says 26MPG. Ha, no way. Expect about 20-21 in the real world.
