OK, when you have that many fleas, you gotta treat your whole house as well as the pets. And this is where the "natural kid-safe stuff" just won't work. You need to go to the vet and get some stuff called "knockout" or something made by Adams. Also get the tablets I forget the name right now, but they kill whatever is on the pet within 60 minutes. take the dogs somewhere while you do this. Also apply the monthly stuff at the same time. Frontline works longer than Advantage, and i don't recommend Advantix to anyone, sseen too many skin reactions. When you treat the house, spray along the edges of the carpets, under the furniture, and any small crevices in the floors, that's where the eggs and larvae are. Also do the rest of the carpets, but pay lots of attention to those areas. Take all bedding, human and animal, and wash it in the hottest water you can. Leave the house full of flea spray for 2 hours. Come back and vacuum the floors, putting a cotton ball soaked in flea spray into the bag or canister and dispose of the waste as soon as you finish vacuuming ( into a trash bag, then tie it and put it out in the trash...) I know it 's a lot of work, but you need to repeat the house treatment in 2-3 weeks to kill the new hatch, because nothing kills the pupal stage. Good luck.

Please look into the remedy you use on the dog. My next door neighbor had a Rott and used the drop on the neck treatment. I cannot remember the name and Tom has since moved, but Alex died because of it at a young age due to 'cancer'...there was a mark on his neck where the product was used. Whether this was a random occurance or not is beyond me, but I'd hate to see someone else lose a dog, especially as great as that one was.

I wish they made something that would cause the fleas to explode in a small ball of fire. Then I could open a beer and enjoy the show.

Fleas have to be the most worthless thing in all of God's creation. I know they need a blood meal to reproduce, but I've heard that human blood isn't the right stuff for them. So not only are you getting bitten but it's for no reason other than to torment you.

The purple can stuff I was talking about is raid flea killer. It works well but you need to treat the animals and the house at the same time. You might also want to consider treating the yard as well.

Shave it all!!!!!

Crapets, Dogs, Cats, Kids . . . Wife. Just joking King. I have had problems in the past and it seems that the liquid stuff tends to last longer and work better. Used the drops on cats & dogs and it worked great. Along with regular shampooing with the flea and tick shampoo. Good luck.

A little off topic, but about 6 years ago we had a bad infestation of fleas. They lived in one area of the yard which had no grass. The bad part about it, you had to go through it, by way of stepping stones to get in the house. It was not uncommon to get 50 on you as you walked through. I have never seen anything like that before or since. Naturally they were able to come right in the front door I tried everything to rid them from the yard, multiple insecticides, including brand new commercial stuff. It worked, knocked them down for about 24hrs, then they were back I was about to redneck it and set the yard on fire. I got the dog a good collar, set up about 30 water/soap traps in the house, put Borax in the carpet, you name it.

About a week later they were gone. You have to control the source of food, and that means the animal, by whatever method. Friends laughed at the mutant fleas at my house until a couple of them had the exact same thing happen a couple years later

For the inside of the house I would suggest any of the permethryin bombs. For the outside, I would suggest using a combination of any adulticide spray for fleas including a permethryin and Martins I G Regulator. It is usually available at most feed stores. The I G Regulator stops the growth hormone of any insect. Insects don't mature to have babies, no babies- no insects. The adulticide kills the mature ones- problem over. Works great on ants too. Contact info for I G Regualtor:

Fill a shallow pan, barely off the rug, under the couch and chairs with salt.

To test for fleas, walk around with no pants. If you find bites on your lower legs, you have fleas.

When i walk around my house with no pants I have ten or twenty of them crawling on my legs, so I guess I must have fleas. They don't bite me though, I think my blood alcohol level must be too high for them.LOL Don
