What's your favorite state to drive through, and why?

I recently had to make a whirlwind fly and drive turnaround from Texas to Washington state, and driving back through Texas, New Mexico, Colorado. Utah, Idaho, and Washington, you can appreciate all their uniqueness. It got me to thinking about when I really enjoy driving, what is it that I like? And where is it or type of surroundings that give me the most pleasure driving?

So I post the question to you folks. What's your favorite state to drive through, and why?

Obviously Canadians can chime in with their provinces or whatever they are called, and answer the same.

What say you?

Georgia. You can't beat the roads or the gas prices and can haul a$$.

How can you narrow it down to A state. More people should drive threw,
instead of flying over this wonderful country of ours.

The rolling hills of Virginia

The Smokey Mountains

New England in the fall

Driving through the Everglades

California costal highways

The Bad Lands

just to name A few

I have to agree with Utah, I live in Utah and it is beautiful here. I love camping, hiking, skiing and this is the place to do it and Southern Utah just kicks butt.

Anywhere away from heavily populated areas, I find everywhere has some unique views to offer. Whether it be some long stretching virgin valley off a mountain pass in north carolina at sunrise/sunset or some freshly plowed fields on flatland in southern arkansas, or the rolling pastures with hundreds of cattle grazing in Texas or Ok. Everywhere has something to offer, except maybe Jersey....too many people everywhere there from what I am to understand :P Even the swamps of Louisiana are VERY beautiful. Driving into New Orleans on I-10 or airline highway passing through the swamps at sunset, right where you see the interstates and highways come together really is a sight to be seen.

My home Arkansas. You can go from swamps in southern Arkansas to the Moutians in the North West. There is plenty of the old Pioneer stuff. And can't forget all the lakes and rivers.

Last Spring we took a road trip down to Mardi Gras from Philly. The most fun driving that I has was through Mississippi. We were on one road that was straight for as far as the eye could see. We rented a car, but you should see the looks you get when you barrel past someone in a Buick Century. It was kinda funny, 3 college guys loking like we stole one of our grandfather's car. Had a blast, but in all honesty...good music, a fun truck or car to drive and reasonable weather...any road can be great.

Is it true that they call the highways in Hawaii interstates?

Driving down to LBI on Route 72 is kind of fun...there's not usually too many people on it in the off season (except for troopers looking for people who enjoy driving Rt. 72 in the offseason)

If I'm going cross-country try to get somewhere, I don't mind driving anyplace. I loved Nebraska (speed limit 75) but hated Iowa and Illinois (speed limit 65) Any route along water where I have something to look at I love.

Salt Flats in Utah....with the mountains in the background almost looks like another planet. Pretty amazing stuff....

I live in Colorado and it has some really nice sights.....especially Rocky Mountain National park and the highest paved road in the country...well over 16,000 feet. Hard to breath up there when you stop to walk around...

N. Cal is beautiful as well!!! The Napa valley and bay area....to the Sierra's and Tahoe!!

So true! The salt flats and mountains combo look awesome. I would love to be in one of those vehicles that break records at the flats. There's alot more salt flats now too since the Great Salt Lake is dryin up.
