I don't know if came out of a 1969 4X2 or a 4X4 it did have the 11"X21/4" shoes on it, they were the biggest available that year. The front and rear bolt pattern on all the Ford 1/2 ton trucks is 51/2",(yes it matches the front). Thats why the guys running the Mustang/ Volare front ends are installing the Lincoln or Explorer units, or looking for the Ranchero axles for in their 9" units. They are 41/2" same as those front end bolt patterns.

Installing the 9" rearend is simple the only difference is in the shock mounting and the driveshaft length. I installed an S10 5-speed trans and the 9" rearend at the same time to avoid having to pay for having the driveshaft modified twice as I would have if I had done them separately. The driveshaft modification alone wound up costing me around $250.00. If you still have the orginal transmission in the truck you can probably just replace that yoke that is on the back of your trans that the front of the driveshaft splines slide into with a longer one off an early Bronco. We discussed that on a post a long time ago, If you plan to go that route let me know and I will look it up and let you know what the difference length you will need, It's around 1" I know that much. Also Classic Performance Products carries a kit for installing the 9" unit in your truck, it includes the u-bolts, shock mounting, spring pad. Not a bad deal because one u-bolt at the local spring shop cost me $18.00. If you would like me to e-mail you some pictures and give you more details of my installiation send me an e-mail with your e-mail address and I will send them to you. Hope This Helps
