Problems with AM reception

I am experienceing problems with AM reception ( Audiophile System). As I drive along the sound becomes muted and muffeled then retiurns to normal. Not an incease or decrease in volume. just a change in compression . so to speak, of the sound itself. Ideas???

I've noticed the exact same thing. I thought I was going crazy. Seems to me it readjusts with a speed change. I haven't played with the settings but I am going to try and adjust the speed sensitivity control. Let me know if you come up with anything.

I too think that I have this problem. It is a hard problem to describe. To me it sounds like the amplifier is clipping, but at normal (or even low) volume. It is noticably worse when the radio is cold and only happens on AM, FM and the CD work fine. The problem goes away when the radio is fully warmed up.
