I'm not sure about the 'default', but the OD can be turned on/off by pushing in on the very end of the shift lever-would this something that's related to your question?
A woman I worked with just bought an XLT and had the same problem. Shortly after the truck stopped shifting and was undriveable. This was on day 3 of ownership. It turned out to be some sensors that were defective. I'd have it checked.
Had the same problem. The transmission temperature sensor was out of spec. Ford replaced and I have had no more trouble. I have put 10K on the truck since the repair. Your service facility may need to run the truck until the tranny is hot before they see the problem.
Same problem for me after having the vehicle for only one week..was a sensor in the wiring harness. It would only run in low gear when it happend. Dealership fix it in one day.
...Hey everyone. If your truck was BUILT more than 4 or 5 month ago,ask about an update on the transmission control program while you have it in for service.Always ask for ANY kind of program updates for your model and equipment.
...I got mine done in about 20 minutes.Shifts a lot better now.
