www.crutchfield.com and www.sounddomain.com/shop are two good places to shop online for car stereo equipment.

Both offer great selection and customer service, are very reputable, and are authorized dealers for all the products they sell.

For the lowest prices, eBay is the way to go. However, the sellers there are almost always not authorized dealers. Therefore, you won't get a factory warranty with what you buy from them, which could be a hassle if the product is somehow defective. I've personally bought alot of items on eBay with no problems. I recently got a brand new $550 Alpine head unit for only $405.

OK, now onto my second question. Whats a good head unit for use in my '92 Ranger super cab. I'm looking to hookup 2 subs(10's or 12's) and for now have them power all the speakers. But I want a lot of expandability, because I want to add more subs and power the speakers with amps at some point. Auxilary input would be nice to have also.

This is a difficult question to address without knowing how much you want to spend. I'm impartial to Alpine, but Pioneer and Eclipse also make good head units. A good head unit with the features you listed will run you at least $250 (eBay prices will be lower).

I am interpreting this as you intending to use the head unit to power the subs. This, of course, is not recommended. You need a dedicated external amp.

But I want a lot of expandability, because I want to add more subs and power the speakers with amps at some point. Auxilary input would be nice to have also.
The better head units have 2 pairs of RCA output jacks as well as a dedicated RCA jack for the sub. The Alpine 9827 would fit your bill. Aux inputs are actually rare in head units. I know that Alpines don't have them and requires some sort of special adapter to get one.

Whatever you buy, I highly recommend getting the best head unit you can afford. You will regret buying a cheap head unit when you decide to upgrade your system.

Also, check out these sites for good basic info...

I'm planning on spending at least about 300 on the head unit. Oh, I understand I need a seperate amp for the subs, or even one per sub. And I know aux inputs are rare, I was just hoping. I'll just get an RF modulator or whatever. Thanks for the help by the way.

I agree that Crutchfield is good, for quantity and shipping time, But as far as price they're not that hot. Look for what you want on Crutchfield, get the information on the product, and do a search online. You'll probably find what you want for much less.
I've always had good luck with eBay but you have to research the sellers feedback, payment, and S&H terms before you paint yourself into a corner.
Good Luck

Alpine's -w- AI-Net capability can use a changer to rca input adapter. Plugs into the changer input on the deck. Work great too. I have one for my video. Eclipse offer's Aux In on their mid to high line. Fusion offer's it on their top line only, about $399.99 retail.

Auxiliary input isn't as rare as it used to be. Aiwa and some JVC head units have 1/8" jacks on the front panel. Alpine, Eclipse, Nakamichi and some others have auxiliary on the back and merely need an adapter cable. A really hot setup is the AudioControl HPX which does a lot of other neat things besides providing an auxiliary input jack. I had one in my Hummer and loved it.
