I've seen a few entries regarding hard starting when the engine is hot. Just had the same problem myself and thought I would pass on what I learned.

My Explorer started good cold, but when hot would start hard and behave as if flooded. I also noticed it would idle high, around 1100 to 1200 rpm when hot. It seemed like the engine thought it was cold, so I un-plugged the coolant temp sender and the engine started great hot and idled normal. Replaced the sensor and all is well.

Never got a check engine light for the sensor. Must have still looked within possible norms to the computer...
