87 Ranger 2.9 Ignition Problem

I have an 87 Ranger with a 2.9 V6. It feels like its running on 2 or 3 cylinders and gas is dripping from the exhaust system where the manifold down pipe meets the catalytic converter. Much needed plugs, wires, cap, and rotor made no difference. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks/Mike

Are you sure it's an ignition problem not a fuel pressure problem. You can test for spark to all 6 with a timing light. Try disconnecting the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator and if you find fuel, thats the problem. If theres no fuel in the hose, check fuel presure.

87 XLT, You were right!

Thanks 87 XLT, The "Z" shaped vacumn hose coming off the back of the fuel pressure regulator was full of gasoline. I will look into replacing the regulator tommorow. Respectfully/Mike Jaguar

Good deal, glad to hear it's something simple. Good luck with the swap.
