rearleft caliper was leaking so replaced it bled all 4 brakes. pedal went to floor i could not get any brake pressure. two different brake people bled brakes again, still cant get any pressure on pedal.they replaced master cylinder,replaced the new caliper with another new caliper, replaced abs pump,bled brakes again and again. if any one could help please feel free to give any suggestions . i have not been able to use truck for 2 weeks .

 

You probably have air trapped in the ABS system. It takes special equipment to activate the valves so the air can be purged. Dealers have the equipment. Try doing a couple of hard stops to activate the ABS, then bleed the brakes again.

 

problem solved. the new caliper was wrong. it fit but bleeder valve was on bottom instead of at top, you could probabley bleed 55 gallons of fluid and still not push air out. so remember to check location of bleeder valve when replacing caliper. my 550 was down 2 weeks cause of this. a lesson not tobe forgotten.

 

I just replaced the rear passenger caliper on my 2000 F250 tonight. Went smooth, no problems.

My question is if there is anything I need to do to make sure that the parking brake is still adjusted right? The caliper instructions mentioned it, but did not explain how to check.

Replacing the caliper has no effect on the parking brake. The parking brake is located inside the rotor. There is a pair of small brake shoes and the inside of the rotor is machined like a brake drum. There is an adjustment slot in the backing plate.

Whitmo- if the parking brake pedal gets firm when setting the parking brake, it is properly adjusted. If it gets tight late in the pedal travel, you can adjust them with the star adjusters behind the rubber plugs near the bottom back of the brake assembly like all drum brakes you have ever seen. Just did two trucks recently. Changing the rotor may change it, but not the caliper (as slc10844 said).

 

Just a note that might make it easier for those who are adjusting their parking brake.Looking from the rear towards the front,the passenger side adjuster needs to be turned clockwise to tighten and the driver's side needs to be turned counterclockwise.

 

THANKS a Million. Was baffled on bleeding and could not get pedal.. New caliper from AutoZone had bleeder on bottom. Changed to one with top bleeder. SOLVED!!
