Question Work, play, yard ornaments?

What kind of uses do ya'll put your 73-79 trucks to? I myself own a '76 F150 460/c6/4x4(1 ton drivetrain) that I really only drive to impress folks. With all accounted for it sits on about 15" of suspension lift and 44's, and is an eyecatcher to say the least in its flame red paint. Oh yeah- It does attend a mud run once a month- but mostly just for show- I'm usually too busy tweaking my '87(which is solely devoted to mud bogging) to worry about running it. It does make the guys up there happy though! It is taller than a few of the 'E' class trucks(tractor tires), and it is "street legal"(I haven't gotten in trouble yet)

My trucks are only used on nice, sunny summer days. I have a 77 F100 flareside, a 78 F150 Ranger Lariat, and a 79 F100 shortbed that have been restored to original condition, a 95 F150 XL that is all original and in mint conditon, and a 73 F100 Custom which is currently in the process of being restored. They are all garage kept so that they will stay in excellent condition.

Mine is supposed to be an all around vehicle- daily driver, hauler, 4x4 fun truck, hunting rig, camping ride... but what it really is is a pile of parts in the driveway. Everytime I get it running, I decide to work on something else, which takes it out of commission. Hopefully that will end soon. Ted

my 78 f-150 is a show truck now and it only comes out of the garage on nice sunny days no wet roads, gravel, or parking lots for my baby.

That is what I was afraid of. I took mine out one time and that was all there was to it. I put too much work and money into my truck to NOT use it. That it why it is getting a rustoleum paint job. I want it to look decent, but not so good that I won't use it. Ted

Ted- i agree with you 100 percent. I cant restore a car or truck to high quaility because i would be afraid to ruin it. Monster, watch out for people drooling all over your truck, i was about to drool on the computerscreen. GREAT TRUCK!

Ted's, I can spray you up one mean camouflage paint job! No reason for a $3,000 paint job if you're going to scratch it.

I like your way of thinking camo, but I don't think he has the least intention of scratching it at all- no need to worry about a wasted paint job on a truck when you're not scratching it, right?!?! I can see where he's coming from- I baby my '76 and she doesn't really see a lot of off road time, but you can bet I give my mud truck hel* when I take it to the bog- and I paid for professional products to paint her as well, although I did the work. Thanks for your posts everyone!

Yeah, what I meant was that I will use it. I toyed with the camo job because it distracts the eye, so dents don't show as easy. My wife wasn't too hot on that idea, so I went with hunter green gloss. It looks good, but you can see the dents. I can't wait to have it done, but it won't look good for long. It isn't perfect, so I can see it being muddy and dusty a lot to hide the imperfections
