ftsrb01,

Not exactly. The sticker was $41,600. I paid $33,600, purchased the extended warranty but no paint options, financed for 60 months with 5.9% and put $8,500 down. I ended up financing about 27k. My point was even with all this it will not help tscryba because everyone's situation is different. It is much easier to get a payment calculator and you can play with the numbers (amount financed, downpayment, rate, etc) yourself.

I traded in 2 vehicles for my truck. I traded in a 98 Dodge Ram (it was paid off) and a 99 Cobra (negative equity). Sticker on my truck was 33K, I got them down to 28K, then 8K off that for the trade-ins. I financed 20K over 72 months at 4.99% interest. My payment is 330 a month. I plan on paying it off early.

Just like vader said... every person's situation is different.

37,620 Sticker on mine, paid 32,000 on a 36/36000 mile lease. I put 5k into the deal which I'm regretting now, but it got the payments down to 320 a month. This works for me being a Marine Surveyor. My biggest expense is traveling to the boats and home, so I can write off 80-90% of the truck..

Here's the kicker I don't understand.. I went to Ford Credit web page and signed up to let them take the payment out of my checking account every month. When I click the account balance it says 26,011 is the pay off after the first payment which was made when I signed for the truck. Out of the 5k I gave them...taxes on 32k@6% 1900+, 96.00 to register it in NJ, 320 for the first payment, secruity payment 320.00 comes out to roughly 2700 out of my 5k down... So how can the pay off be 26k?? Is there some kind of penalty in buying out the lease and the rest of the truck before the 3yrs are up?? According to the lease the truck will be worth 20,089 at the end of the lease. The lease is at 8% If the buy out is 26k it irritates me to pay 320 a month for 3yrs just to pay it down 6k... If the pay off is 26k and I pay it off it means I can buy the truck for 31k including the taxes and rest of the crap and on top of that I'll get the secruity money back..

Anyone know what's going on here??

Bank of America just offered me an up to 65k home equity loan at some really low rate..

It's a finance thing. You do get a penalty for ending a lease early because in simple terms it "messes up their books". When you lease, they put that lease into long term assests in their accounts receivables. When you end a lease they get the money now but lose money they were accounting for in the future. Probably doesnt make sense...I was a finance major and understand how it works...just not good at explaining it.

76Ford, actually it does make sense and I was figuring on some kind of extra charges... I sold Ford trucks in Maine for about 18 months. About 6 months into it I was more interested in the F&I office than dealing with the buyers, but lease's were lots different 15 years ago. I'm still going to take a shot at the dealer to give me a pay off number when I go back to get the AC looked at.. just for grins..

On the flip side, I'm not sure I want to be married to this truck. At 650 miles who knows what's going to happen reading these pages?? Maybe after 10k?? 320 a month for the next 35 months might be the only way out if this thing if it starts vibrating it's way down the highway..with the rear howling in my ears..

04 F150 FX4 Supercrew w/power sliding rear window, sport cloth captain chairs, trailer tow, power driver's seat, 18" wheels, 6 disc in dash cd changer (gone now for DVD player), power driver's seat.

Sticker $37220
Paid $27422.30
trade in got me $15000 in equity
added $1130 for ext. warranty
total financed is $14??? (can't remember exactly) at 3.85% for 63 months which resulted in $253 a month.

It helps to have family working at a Ford dealer.

I use a program called Loan Spread Calculator Pro, it's an awesome financing calculator. I used it to see what was my max amount I was willing to financed on a X monthly payment. It's a trial version. I also downloaded "LOAN HELPER" for my PDA to figure out if it'd be better taking the rebates or low interest right on the spot. Hope this helps...
