'82 460 - where is water temp sending unit?

Got an '82 E-350 with 460 engine. Water temperature started swinging wildly this weekend on a 100 mile trip. Stopped and checked hoses, belts, nothing seemed amiss. Continued with trip and occasionally the temp gauge would peg out high, then come down. I saw no reason to believe the engine was overheating.

I couldn't find the sending unit - wondering where it is on this rig? I'm hoping to avoid taking the shroud off the engine in the cab, since it's a hassle, so I was just looking under the hood only. Is this perhaps a bad wire grounding out, with nothing wrong with the gauge or sending unit?

Thanks. I'll check it out. My Chilton's manual was no help.

Bingo - found it! After pulling a few plug wires off the cap and the coil wire, I think I can even get a wrench on it. Thanks for the reply.
