'96 rear brake disc removal
OK, I'm in my driveway, rear brakes disassembled, need to replace my rear rotors (terrible scoring-I'll post about this later) and my wonderful Haynes manual only mentions brake disc removal for the front rotors. I'm hesitant to proceed without knowing what I'm doing but I don't want to ruin my new pads with scored rotors. PLEASE help!

Do you have the parking brake on ? If so , release it . There are small thin metal keepers on the studs , remove those . Sometimes its nessecary to manually release the parking brakes by removing the inspection plug on the back side of the rotor & turning the adjusting wheel so the shoes are no longer making contact , Your Explorer uses small brake shoes inside the rear rotors , this is the parking brake .
