Need advice on 2000 Explorer tires
Ok, I know you guys have probably heard this a million times. My dad's 2000 Explorer had the "bad" Wilderness AT tires and we just got them reaplced with Goodyear Wrangler RTs. Now, I really liked those big Firestone's, dunno about anyone else. Besides the somewhat strange noise they made from the front, they seemed to be much more grippy compared to these Wranglers. I'm not very impressed with the Wranglers. It just feels too floaty especially around turns and on the highway, and I know the Explorer can grip better. What are some of y'all favorite brands?

Since 1980 or so, I've been a big Goodyear fan. They never dissappointed me. I just put Goodyear Eagle GT-2's on my '94 EB, 255-70-15's and they're great. Last set was Firestone's 31-9.5-15's. They Eagle's seem "stickier". I don't do any "off-roading" so that wasn't an important condieration. I also use Eagle HP-Ultra-Plus's on my vintage Vette. Awesome tire-----dry weather only though.
My first choice would be Goodyear.

I am using tires made by Cooper--Bronco Radial CTD (commercial truck duty). They have excellent grip and are speed rated. Some of the multiple duty tires are not speed rated and wear unevenly if you do alot of highway driving. I purchased mine at a place called Farm & Fleet (Blain's Farm & Fleet)--you may or may not have one by you. These tires were significantly less expensive than the Goodrich's, Goodyear's, etc., but wear really well. I am on my second set (I have close to 200,000 miles on my 94 Ford Explorer Sport!).
