Wow; your block must have been machined down quite a bit. The H304P pistons normally sit .030" down the hole. Even at .020" deck height; I doubt you have 10.5:1 CR with stock head gaskets.

Apparently todays gas and that of the late 60's, early 70's is not quite the same as far as octane ratings go.
