Tires

Ok guys, a tire question..... If I raise my 98 Explorer Eddie Bauer 1 1/2 inches with the shackle and torsion bar lift, what size tires can I fit on my 16" rims without doing and body modifications? I have 255/70R/16 on there now. I would like to go a little bigger if possible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

You would be able to conforably fit 31" tires and you may be able to fit 32" tires if they are not M/Ts. If you really want bigger tires for offroading, put a 3" body lift on and you could fit 33s. You may want to look into switching to 15" rims. 15" tires are WAY cheaper than 16".

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Feb-02 AT 10:29 AM (EST)]I went to 265/75/16's But I had to cut the trim inside the front wells and it still hit the sway bars I removed those for another reason and the tire still sometimes rubs the 255/70/16's are about all I could get on my 99 XLT. But I still have the 265/75/16's on there.
