Post 1968 289 oil pan problem

<!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Need someones wisdom. I am installing a 1968 289 in a 56 f100 that has a Heidt's Super Ride front suspension. The front sump oil pan dose not clear the rack and pinion. Does anyone know what rear sump pan will work ?
Thanks

1968 289 oil pan reply

Thanks, I'm in Gray GA. Just a little more info, the pan I need has no provision in it for the dipstick tube, my block has the hole for the tube drilled high enough that this is not needed. Also, I have a 95 F100 with a 302 with a rear sump pan, but it has the bulge for the dipstick tube. These are the ones I can't use.
Thanks

I'll look when I get home.. this was extra picked up for my daughters mustang, 86 engine from a lincoln.. dipstick in the drivers side block.

This is a single sump pan, not the mustang dual sumper. (single drain).

well actually here is my ebay auction for it that has a good picture of the left side of the oil pan

so, does that look like what you are looking for? Or is that the same problem you mentioned above. 'but it has the bulge for the dipstick tube'

Rear Oil Sump

I'm putting a 302 in my 51 and just found today in JEGS catalog a rear oil sump pan with dip stick and pick up. $109.99 from Ford Racing Products.
It's a 5 quart Part #397-M-6675-A50 Jegs Tele. # 1-800-345-4545
Don't know if it will fit your engine but you could call and find out.

Headman, If I were you I would call Heidt's and find out what oil pan you need.

I use Fat Man's front suspension in brand x car with Ford 289 motor and I use late model Mustang dual sump oil pan. It fits like a glove.

The oil pan that sdetweil is selling doesn't look familiar. It is not a late model Mustang dual sump oil pan and it does not fit Mustang fox body or sn95 body.

WAS selling.. now to whoever wants it, rather than throw it away.
Looks like I bought it in March of 2002, and it is supposed to fit a Ford Explorer with 5.0 engine.

rear sump pans came stock in vans and 4x4's. Lots of them with 302's in em. I know the van has the dipstick attached to the pan but it might be a bit long for a truck. Just a suggestion.
