Want to take advantage of the Fog Lights

I would like to have the ability to leave my fog lights on with my daylight running lights.
That's the first step.

The second step.. I would like to have to ability to leave the fog lights on while on high beam... but keep the ability to turn them off when 'absolutely' required.

Anyone can help???

Ben

I am not sure about the running lights, but I know for a fact that when you put in your high beams, it cancels out the fog lights. Hope this helps.

he is asking how can he use fog lights on high beams.
just a thought on some volkswagens if you do that it obviously draws more amps and the wires to the lights weren't rated to carry those amps and people were melting the wires.

but i too would like to run my fog lamps with headlights on high. anyone help

I know what he is asking and I am answering his question. I dont think amperage is the issue here, because the foglights do not run on the same wires as the highbeams. Each circuit has its own wiring and its own fuse protection. The issue is more for safety, they do want idiots driving at night blinding people.

Back in 1989..... I installed fog lights (actually they were running lights.. hig intensity back then) and I managed, by installing two switches, to control the lights with the high/low beam as an option and by simply leaving them on at all times.

I would like to replicate that... but... as you both understand... leaving the daylight running and 'complimenting' them with the fog lights.

I find the 'look' kind of nice with all four lights on...

I would think that you could possibly trace the wires from the foglights and add a new set of wires and a new switch to control them yourself and bypass the one on the dash.

Mine doesn't have daytime running lamps, or I am too stupid to know how to get them to work?

You're only allowed a certain amount of wattage of lighting on the front of a vehicle, that's why the fogs go out. I agree it's stupid. I'm thinking about putting another set of fogs (aftermarket) on each side of the license plate in the bumper. I'd put them on another switch and leave those on all the time (wire them into your parking lights). I had a set of Hella 530's on my Dodge that I had this way. They were great. I never got pulled over, but I did get a lot of flashes from other cars. So I flashed them my high beams on top of it, just to have fun. Aren't I horrible?

Here in Quebec, Canada. It is Illegal to run your fog lights for no reason at all. They are called fog lamps for a reason.

But what about the daytime running lamps. Do all F150's have these? Do they come on automatically? Our Expedition does, but my truck isn't. Is something not working right?

I ordered a daytime running light kit from my dealer for about $65. It's a little module that you need to wire in under your dash that'll power the low-beam's at about 70% power whenever the parking lights aren't on.

I did the install myself. It's pretty simple to do with their directions and a volt meter. I also hooked it to a switch so I could disable them if I want to for some reason.
