Ford 2.9L or what
Hi...I am new to the forum, but I have a very important question to ask all of you knowledgable ford people. I have a 1987 Ford Ranger XLT...Fuel Injected and a 2.9L . I have about a couple thousand dollars saved up and I was wondering if it would be worth it to sink all of that money into the motor of my truck...I havent really heard of a lot of powerful 2.9L's out there, so I was wondering if you ford pro's can give me info on whether it would be worth it or whether i should just get another car...I mean, how much power max could I get out of the 2.9L? Thanks a lot...

Of course, to each his own.
If you really want a go-fast vehicle, there's better platforms than a truck.
What you DO have is a reliable vehicle that won't be as tempermental as a hot rod. The 2.9 is resonably fuel efficient as well, so it won't cost you large just to get around. Just darn good transportation.
If you really want your Ranger to go fast, put a 5.0 in it. That should be enough power to net you a speeding ticket or two!
