Monster garage, Pikes Peak special

Yeah, I watched that. That is screwed up, ranger frame on a blazer. They ordered headers for that blazer frame, no wonder they didn't fit!
I noticed this motor they put in started right up. They put in a new crate motor right? I can't remember, must have left the room at that time. Anyway, I'm just surprised it started right up. It seems like all those crate motors, espcially the Edlebrock ones, never like to start right up. Must take a bit to get them primed and tuned right.

Did you see the build tally at the end? They paid $6000 for that Blazer and then scrapped it from the firewall forward, not to mention all the other stuff behind the firewall. Why pay that much for a vehicle that old that you are going to cut up anyway? I guess TV shows have a lot higher budget for builds like this than those of us out here in the real world. And Jesse didn't impress me too much when he lost his temper and started smashing things just because he couldn't get the headers to fit right. I've gotten mad/frustrated enough to throw things in a situation like that, but not just smashing things like a 5-year-old having a temper tantrum. The finished product was pretty cool, even for a Chevy. Would have liked it better if they had used a Bronco, and retained Ford power, of course.

I thought it was pretty cool. I've driven up Pikes Peak several times and to race up it would be a rush! I would prefer two wheel drive since the blazer weighes a ton. It makes it easier to kick the rear end around. In a smaller vehicle I would prefer 4wd. Even with 600 horse, it would probably dog the motor with 4wd at 14,000 feet.
