Golfmore is starting off with a positive reputation.
92 Explorer w/low R12

Do I have this serviced and charged with r12, or do I do a r134 changeover? I would try the min changeover if I did it. I have never worked on AC before. Thanks for any suggestions.

If the system is generally in good shape, you are usually better off having a shop leak check it and drop some R12 in it. Its a more efficient refrigerant, and unless there is a system failure I see no reason to convert it to the less efficient R134.

Pikachu is right, have the system checked for leaks and recharge with R12. The cost would end up about the same price as a correct conversion to R134a would be.

Sounds pretty reasonable. Thanks for the help. The only thing I was thinking about was that I understand that we can use R12 for only a couple of years more. Is this true? Thanks again...

Last I heard, and this can change by the minute, R12 will be available in the U.S until there is no more to recycle.
