Fan switch connector - Where can I get one?
|
I had the fun joy of ripping my dash apart yesterday. Yup, the usual diverter door hinge repair/replacement. Thankfully, with help from this forum, that job went super easy and my door is now swinging supper easy on a nice, nickel piano hinge.
My repair job was a bit bigger than most: last winter, my A/C control switch broke. On my 81, this is the vacuum control switch that sets all the doors in the ducting to get heat/defrost/AC/etc. It is kind of a pancake. The bottom of the switch has a ratchet assemble that gives you the detents at the various positions. It has a pin that hangs down and engages the lever that you actually move. On top of this switch is the part that actually operates the vacuum "stuff" as well as turning the blower off or tuning it on high. It connects to the ratchet part with a pin that engages it. That little connector pin broke on my truck. Thankfully, it looks like a bit of epoxy, fiberglas fibers and an old sheet metal screw have repaired this item back to 100%!
Now for the only remaining issue: the connecter on the left side of the heater control module controls the fan speed. When I removed this connector, it broke into a million peices. It looks like it had overheated (BADLY) and was super brittle. Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone know were I can get a replacement connector shell? The pins look good so I would hate to have to splice into my wiring harness to replace the shell. Also, can someone post the wire color codes and their locations in the connector?
Thanks for the help!
