04 escape a/c problem

have a new 04 escape. a/c is acting strange. around town at low speed, all is fine. on highway or at high enging speeds, stops cooling. does not matter if on regular or max a/c. once off the highway, it slowly returns to normal. i've noticed that when the problem occurs, a/c compressor cycles on and off a lot and only stays on for a second or so. also, a/c compressor is LOUD when this is happening. can't normally hear it very much.

ideas??

Thanks,

adam

A 2004 sould be under warranty so take it back to the dealer. Sounds like the system has lost some charge due to a leak.

Thanks for the reply. Just wanted to have an idea of what might be wrong before I take it back.

Does the airflow seem restriced when the problem occurs? If so, I'm thinking the evaporator is icing up, expecially true if you have high humidity in your area.

Hm...had not thought about that.. I'll check. I do live an area where there is a lot of fog and humidity and it did seem to be worse when I was driving in a foggy area...

Thanks,

Adam
