Hello again everyone!


This time I was wondering what all the codes on the vehicle ID/Certification sticker mean.
(the sticker on the side of the drivers door)
I now know the axle code D4 means 3.73 LS thanx to my previous listing. Anybody know what the rest means?

Is it the VIN number?

There's several sites that decode this. Type VIN, decoder, Explorer on any search engine and presto! go to www.ixquick.com

but no....not the VIN.
I did find a VIN decoder though.
I am actually trying to figure out which transmission I have....
the 4 speed auto w O/D
or the 5 speed auto w O/D
How can I tell??

Then you have the 5R55E, 5-speed automatic (assuming yours is an automatic). In '97 the 5R55E replaced the 4R55E on the 6 cylinders. The V8 got the 4R70W automatic only.

Yup, I saw it. You should be ready to tow now with the cooler on which should extend the life of your transmission whether your are towing or not. Congratulations. I know if feels good to do something that a repair shop would charge $100-$150 to do.
